We began this journey together on December 31, 2009. It’s been a long haul, but God has been gracious and He brought us through.

I am posting the last chapter I recorded here today. You might expect that Malachias, Chapter 4 would be the final recorded chapter, since it is the final non-deuterocanonical book in the Old Testament. However, I recorded that book last night, and saved Zacharias for today.

Therefore, I am posting the audio for Zacharias Chapter 14 here now, and will have a surprise for you a little bit later.

In the meantime, I’m posting Isaias Chapter 53 for you here. This chapter is one of the best-known Old Testament prophesies of the coming Messiah.

I put in a long day today, and finished the Deutero-Canonical Book of Wisdom.

The chapter for today is Wisdom 19.

We’re moving right along, don’t you think? I recorded Canticle of Canticles (Song of Solomon) today, plus two chapters of the Douay-Rheims Audio Bible Book of Wisdom.

Since Wisdom is one of the Deutero-Canonical books (some refer to these as the Apocrypha) I am posting Chapter 2 of this book today.

The lessons of Solomon are not always easy listening…you really have to wait for the very end of Ecclesiastes for the payoff.

The chapter of the Douay-Rheims Audio Bible that I am including in this post is one of the most “famous” in the entire Bible, especially for people of my generation. The Byrds made it popular with their song, “Turn, Turn, Turn”. Please enjoy Ecclesiastes Chapter 3.

snaffle: noun… a bit for a horse

Today’s chapter is Proverbs 26.

Making good progress, don’t you think, on the Old Testament portion of the Douay Rheims Audio Bible. Lord willing, I’ll finish the book of Proverbs tomorrow. I hope to even get a start on Ecclesiastes!

As you probably know, Psalms is the Bible’s longest book, so it feels good to have this one behind me. I love the book, and meditating on it holds blessings for the person who devotes time to it, but since the object here is to complete the entire Bible, it’s time to move on to Proverbs.

I have often thought that it would be great if we had the music that went along with these songs. In this Psalm, there are a couple of repeating refrains. Wouldn’t it be great if we could sing along?

This one is a Psalm of praise, confession, repentance, and testimony of God’s unimaginable mercy.

People often refer to “the God of the Old Testament” as vengeful and full of anger. The way I see it, He is the same loving God as is portrayed in the New Testament…always ready to forgive, even in the face of unbridled sin.
